# simulations fork

> Fork Simulation

Creates a new Simulation from the source Simulation's current state, or from an earlier recorded step when you set at\_step. The source must be running or paused; a stopped source returns 409 simulation\_stopped. Forking does not change the source. The response includes the new endpoint and a token that expires in 1 hour.

## Examples

Replace `<id>` with the resource ID from your response before you run the command.

continuous simulations fork --id <id>
```

## Flags

  Completed step to fork from. Omission forks from the latest state.
</ParamField>

<ParamField path="--body" type="string">
  Request body as JSON (alternative to individual flags). Can also be provided via stdin.
</ParamField>

<ParamField path="--id, -i" type="string" required>
  Source Simulation ID.
</ParamField>

<ParamField path="--name, -n" type="string">
  Name for the child Simulation. Omission generates a name. The ID stays its identity, and names need not be unique.
